YOUR SLEEP HISTORY
Your Sleep History, focuses directly on your personal sleep patterns. The purpose of these questions is to find out if your insomnia is recent or long-term, and if there might be a physical or psychological reason for the condition.
Your third "assignment," the Sleep Diary, will provide a record of the actual number of hours you sleep each night, as well as a log of the factors that may influence your sleep, such as alcohol, coffee, and cigarette consumption. Often people are surprised to find out how many cups of coffee they drink—and when they drink them.
Remember to answer each of the following questions carefully. Jot down your answers in a notebook—you'll find it extremely helpful to refer to your responses as you read this book. The questions may seem like a lot of work, but overcoming insomnia is not an easy task. Your direct, active involvement in obtaining a correct diagnosis and implementing proper treatment for your sleep disorder is essential.
